Training

At the Transformative Mediation Institute, our training programs are grounded in up-to-date research, and delivered in lively, interactive and thought-provoking formats. We have designed innovative training materials and approaches that have been emulated and used all over the world. We keep our training groups small, in order to provide plenty of opportunities for practice, coaching, and feedback.

The focus of our current offerings is to help mediators, managers, lawyers and other third party interveners in conflict build their own communication and intervention skills. We schedule a number of these regular training programs throughout the year:

Transformative Mediation for Advanced Practitioners
Shifts: Understanding Conflict Escalation & De-escalation
Party Autonomy as a Discursive Practice
Empathy as a Discursive Practice

We are also happy to schedule a training program for an interested group upon request, and to design special programs upon request.

Mediator Certification

The Transformative Mediation Institute cooperates with the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation (ISCT) to provide performance-based mediator assessment. Through this process, mediators can be certified as competent practitioners of transformative mediation. While the ISCT provides this service in the English language, the Transformative Mediation Institute provides this service for native speakers of the Dutch language.
